The Lieutenant Governor of National Capital Territory of Delhi vide notification No. F. 53/735/GAD/CN/2025/165-206 dated 10th February 2025, has declared Wednesday, the 12th February, 2025 to be a Holiday in all the Government Offices, Autonomous bodies and public undertakings under the Government of NCT of Delhi on account of Guru Ravi Das Jayanti. The Restricted Holiday declared for the same vide Notification No. F. 53/689/GAD/CN/2024-25/2018-2064 dated 13.11.2024 stands cancelled.

Declaration of 12th Feb 2025 as Public Holiday in Mizoram due to General Election to Local Councils

In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, the Governor of Mizoram vide Notification No.H. 11014/9/2017-GAD/Pt. dated 23.01.2025, has declared the 12th February, 2025 (Wednesday) as Public Holiday for all Government Servants including employees under Central and State Public Undertakings, Educational Institutions and Banking Institutions within Aizawl Municipality and Lunglei Municipality in order to enable the electors to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming General Election to Local Councils, 2025.

Declaration to grant leave on 5-2-2025 to employees working in Rajasthan who are voters in Delhi

The General Administration Department Government of Rajasthan vide notification No. P.12(6)GAD/2/2023 dated 11.01.2025 has declared that as per instructions of the Election Commission of India, under Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, all Heads of various departments, undertakings, boards, corporations etc. of the State are authorised to grant constitutional leave to the officers / employees working in the state of Rajasthan who are registered voters of the assembly constituencies of the National Capital Territory of Delhi on application made by them to cast their vote on the election day i.e. on 5th February 2025.

Grant of Paid Holiday to Employees on the date of poll i-e 5th Feb 2025 in Delhi

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi vide Letter No. CEO/COE/102(11)/2025/1304 dated 08.01.2025 to the Labour Commissioner, Delhi, has declared grant of paid holiday to employees on the date of poll i.e. 05.02.2025 (Wednesday) under Section 135B of Representation of People Act, 1951. It also directed that that this must be brought to notice of all establishments, factories, other business establishments, at least three days before the poll day, to ensure that the employees working in such establishments who are entitled to vote are granted paid holiday on the date of poll so that they are able to cast their vote on the date of poll i.e. 05.02.2025 (Wednesday).

The Office of the Secretary cum Commissioner (Labour), Government of NCT Delhi vide Notification F.184/Addl.LC/Holiday-Election/2019/5487-5493 dated 14.01.2025, has declared that all employers of industrial establishments, factories, shops and commercial establishments in NCT of Delhi shall grant paid holiday to their employees to enable them to cast their vote in their respective constituency on the day of polling i.e. 05.02.2025 (Wednesday) in case scheduled day is a working day for them / electors.

The Governor of Tamil Nadu Vide G.O.(Ms). No. 77 dated 20.01.2025 had declared Wednesday the 5th of February 2025 i.e. the Poll Day to be a Public Holiday under Explanation to Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 for the Bye-Election to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 98. Erode (East) Assembly Constituency in Tamil Nadu. Further all employees working in Erode and neighbouring District but registered as voters shall also be given a paid holiday on 05.02.2024.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 28 of the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958 and all other enabling powers, the Governor of Haryana vide Notification No. Elec-2025/IR-II/PSCE/Hol/2052 dated 22.01.2025, has fixed "Wednesday" the 05.02.2025, to be the holiday with wages for all Shops and Commercial Establishments falling with the jurisdiction of the State of Haryana for only those who are enrolled as voters in the NCT of Delhi to enable them to cast their vote.

Haryana Government vide notification No. 28/02/2025-1HR-I dated 2nd February, 2025 notified that 05.02.2025 (Wednesday) will be observed as paid holiday in all offices, educational and other institutes of the Government of Haryana under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act,, 1881 and Section 135-B of the Representation of People Act, 1951 in respect of those employees who are registered voters of NCT of Delhi for casting vote in the said general election. Also, the employees of various factories, shops and private establishments located in Haryana who are registered voters of NCT of Delhi are also allowed to take paid leave for casting vote in the said general election.
