Notified Draft On The Code On Wages (Gujarat) Rules, 2021
Government of Gujarat vide notification NO. KHR/2021/128/LVD/10/2020/555709/M(2) has notified the “The Code on Wages (Gujarat) Rules, 2021” . The rules shall come into force from the date of commencement of “code on wages, 2019” Once made effective, rules would replace (1) The Payment of Wages (Procedure) Rules, 1937, (2) The Gujarat Payment of Wages Rules, 1963, (3) The Gujarat Payment of Wages (Unclaimed Amounts) Rules, 1963, (4) The Gujarat Payment of Wages Deductions for National Defence Fund and Defence Savings Scheme) Rules, 1964, (5) The Payment of Wages (Manner of recovery of excess deductions) Rules, 1967, (6) The Gujarat Minimum Wages Rules, 1961, (7) The Ease of Compliance to Maintain Registers under various Labour Laws (Gujarat) Rules, 2017 to the extent these rules are made in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 26 of the Payment of Wages Act, 1948 (11 of 1948) and applicable accordingly. Therefore, above mentioned subsumed rules are still effective and employers will have to continue to comply with the said legislations as required thereunder, as and when the rules are made effective.
